Silirw Cyral language 1 CONSTRUCTION: ------------ Gender is added to any noun by a suffix. Absence indicates either neuter or unspecified, but there are 4 genders: masculine, feminine, neuter, and hermaphroditic. Number is indicated by another suffix. Lack of number, the first time a noun is used in a discussion, assumes that there is only one being referred to; after the first mention it is assumed that future mentions will have the same number unless a specific number is used. Number can be specific or general. If it is specific then it comes after the noun as a separate word, considered an adjective. Degree of verb is indicated by a suffix as well. Absence indicates some nonspecific degree. There is an "oppositising" suffix, which makes it possible to construct antonyms, and a "nottising" suffix which makes it possible to construct "not" versions. This creates a different meaning if applied to verbs when they are or are not oppositised. There is also a neutral intensity suffix. Some verbs, such as "roll" have nonsensical negatives, but sensical "not" forms. If you use the negative form of roll, people will probably be confused. Many neutral forms seem useless, because they don't mean much. If you make them "not" forms, suddenly they mean something vague. To construct a gerund, simply use the present tense form of a verb in place of a noun. There are no words that have the same meaning as other words. They occasionally pop up but one supplants the other when this happens. Adjectives are used when adverbs would be used in English. Or you could say it was the other way around, and adverbs are used when adjectives would be used in English. Interjections add emphasis to a sentence, but do NOT carry positive or negative connotations. The feelings of the person using them must be interpreted based on context and tone of voice. There are no words that are considered offensive. Sentences start with a declaration of what type of sentence they are, unless they are the same kind as the previous sentence said by whoever is speaking. There are interrogative and declarative sentences. Imperatives use the "to be intended to [verb]" verb in a declarative. One sentence cannot contain two types of clauses; they must be separated. If you tried to put two together they would be interpreted as two separate sentences. Subject comes first, then verb, then object. Adjectives come after nouns, or after verbs. Interjections come at the end or at the beginning of a sentence usually, but can be placed anywhere.
